World Water Day

A reminder of how we need to encourage politicians (and shareholders, CEO’s etc.) to do the right thing came with this weeks World Water Day on Wednesday. 
The theme for this year was ‘valuing water’.

When we value our water we look after it - we don’t waste it and we protect the quality of the water in our seas, our rivers and the water coming out of our taps!

Our local water provider, Wessex Water is 1 of 6 companies to be poorly rated by the Environment Agency in the 2021 for serious pollution incidents which have increased year on year since 2019. 
Wessex Water discharged sewage 23,524 times in 2021 with a total duration of discharges of 151,258 hours.

Unfortunately we can’t switch to a better water company but we can have our voices heard.

If you write to the company, you should receive a reply within ten working days. If the company doesn’t reply in this time, they must pay £20 as compensation within ten working days. If they don’t pay the compensation in time, you can ask for a further payment of £10, as long as you do this within three months.

Save Water
