Make and Mend
Finding and sharing ways to extend the life of your clothing and other textiles by repairing and repurposing.
Talking natural resources like wool and willow and creating something new.
Join us on the last Wednesday of the month
Bring whatever you’re working on - a new project you need help with, something you’re confident about and part way through or perhaps you’re somewhere in between.
You don’t need to know how to sew, darn, knit etc.etc. because someone there is bound to and from past experience we know they’ll be happy to share.
We'll have a few sewing machines on hand in case you don’t have one of your own.
First visit is free of charge, after that it’s just £4 a session.

The average person today buys 60% more clothing than in 2000 and less than 1% of used clothing is recycled into new garments
Of the total fibre input used for clothing, 87% is incinerated or disposed of in a landfill.
If this sounds as crazy to you as it does to me then come along and join us to repair, repurpose and revive.
Repair
It could be that you’d like your mending done invisibly, it could be that you’re ready to embrace visible mending and make a garment not just as good as new - but even better. Create something that is truly, uniquely yours
Repurpose
Have you got something - an old sheet or duvet cover, some old curtains, a much loved top which no longer fits, perhaps something hiding in the back of a cupboard? Why not turn it into something new? We’ll help with ideas and patterns
Revive
Perhaps, like many of us, you’ve grown bored of an item long before it’s worn out. Why not use appliqué, embroidery, woven patches, buttons (I could go on!) to make a handsome piece you’ll be ready to love again. Let’s also revive craft skills before they’re lost.
