The River Avon is the third most discharged-into river in England. Privatised in 1989, Wessex Water has been allowed to pollute our rivers and waterways with huge and regular discharges of raw sewage.
It is cheaper and easier for them to pay the fines than to do something about it.
The presentation by David Sawtell and Dr Richard Lawson from Local Action 4 Water will look at what has been happening in our area regarding both raw sewage discharges and phosphate pollution from the use of agricultural fertilisers.
There is no charge for admittance but donations will be requested. Teas and Coffee will be available.
